We are seeking to appoint two exceptional candidates to the post of Research Assistant in Economic History, based at Queen’s University Belfast. The Research Assistant will be active in assisting the delivery of the Centre for Economics, Policy and History’s (CEPH) research programme during the 2025-6 academic year.
The post holder will work as a Research Assistant on the Government of Ireland-funded cross-border research initiative. A key component of the post is to support and undertake research in all areas of economic history.
About the person:
Candidates must demonstrate excellent knowledge of data management, Excel, statistics, and statistical packages. Candidates with economics, history, finance or statistics backgrounds are particularly welcome. The successful applicant will have prior experience of data entry, data cleaning, and data processing. You will undertake various research tasks during the project with the support of the project’s principal investigators.
Essential Criteria:
- Undergraduate degree in economics, finance or cognate discipline by commencement of post.
- Experience of contributing to research projects.
- Awareness of key debates in economic history.
- Experience of using Excel and statistical packages.
- Experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

These posts are available for 12 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
