We are seeking to appoint four exceptional candidates to the post of Research Assistant in Economic History, based at Trinity College Dublin. The Research Assistants will be active in assisting the delivery of CEPH’s research programme. These full-time positions will start in September 2024, there are three one-year positions and one six-month position.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
- Undertake data management, literature reviews and data analysis for the duration of the position under the direction of the three Trinity-based PIs.
- Work on research projects in Irish and or international economic history.
- Assist the PIs in preparing material for publication in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
- Collaborate with the CEPH research team on the assembly and publication of a compendium of high-quality indicators relating to Ireland’s economic development over time, including high-frequency and spatially granular data series, as well as national or sectoral aggregates.
- Present regular progress reports on research to the PIs.

Qualifications
The successful candidates must hold, or obtain during the application period, a MSc or MA in economic history or economics. In exceptional circumstances, candidates with a BSc (hons) degree in these fields will be considered.
Knowledge & Experience
- An excellent academic trajectory and methodological training in quantitative economic history or economics. (essential).

Salary
Appointment will be made at point 1 on the IUA Research Assistant Salary Scale in line with Government Pay Policy [€30,025 to €39,908 per annum].
