On March 11th and 12th, CEPH hosted a delegation from the University of Bayreuth for a two day workshop. Both parties presented new and exciting economic history research, featuring presentations from early career and established academics in both teams. The research presented ranged from the experiences of war widows in post-war Germany to the effectiveness of Tsarist secret police in late-nineteenth-century Russia.
The University of Bayreuth is an important hub for economic history, and Professors Sebastian Braun and Jan-Otmar Hesse lead high-quality quantitative and qualitative research in a venture which exemplifies the best of the discipline. CEPH looks forward to possible collaborations with their team in the future, which have the potential to further economic history research both in Ireland and Germany.
