Applications now open for CEPH Postdoctoral Researcher position

We are seeking to appoint one exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow (Postdoctoral Researcher) in Economic History, based at Trinity College Dublin. The Research Fellow will be active in assisting the delivery of the CEPH’s core objectives as well as their own research programme. This full-time position is for eighteen months and will start in September 2024.

 

Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

  • Undertake their own research project for the duration of the position under the direction of the three Trinity-based PIs and, where relevant, other faculty.
  • Prepare material for publication in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
  • Collaborate with the CEPH research team on the assembly and publication of a compendium of high-quality indicators relating to Ireland’s economic development over time, including high-frequency and spatially granular data series, as well as national or sectoral aggregates.
  • Present regular progress reports on research to members of the research group or to external audiences to disseminate and publicise research findings.
  • Contributing to obtaining new external funding for CEPH.

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold, or obtain during the application period, a PhD in economic history or economics.

Knowledge & Experience 

  • An excellent academic trajectory and methodological training in quantitative economic history or economics research. (essential)
  • At least three years relevant research experience. (essential)
  • Exceptional skills in data management. (essential)
  • Experience of publishing, or ability to publish, in top international journals. (desirable)

Salary

Appointment will be made at point 1 on the IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale in line with Government Pay Policy [€42,783 to €49,177 per annum].
